Blazing Saddles

 


This film was produced by Michael Herzberg and directed by Mel Brooks. The screenplay was by Mel Brooks, Norman Steinberg, Andrew Bergman, Richard Pryor and Alan Unger. The story was by Andrew Bergman. It was released in 1974 by Warner Brothers and lasted 94 minutes. The cast included Cleavon Little, Gene Wilder, Slim Pickens, David Huddleston, Liam Dunn, Alex Karras, John Hillerman, George Furth, Claude Ennis Starrett, Jr., Mel Brooks, Harvey Korman, Madeline Kahn, Carol Arthur, Charles McGregor, Robyn Hilton, Dom DeLuise, and Count Basie.

 

This is the spoof of all spoofs on westerns, a classic caricature of classic movies. Black Bart (Cleavon Little) is black and rides into Rock Ridge, an all-white town as sheriff. Later, he must disguise himself as a Ku Klux Klan member to break out an outlaw ring. It is hilarious
